Supplements
In an ideal world, we should be able to get everything we need nutritionally from whole foods. Unfortunately, there are many blocking factors. Poor soil quality, for example, leads to nutrient depletion, while toxins and chemicals both purposefully and inadvertently found in our food supply often block absorption and utilization of essential nutrients. Additionally, we must consider factors such as medications and activity level when assessing the unique nutritional needs of any client.
For this reason, targeted supplementation is often a necessary part of every dietary protocol and is complimentary to the dietary recommendations we make as nutrition therapists. Supplement protocols are tailored to meet each clients’ specific healthcare goals, ideally providing a minimalist, short-term strategy whenever possible.
Below are some foundational supplements that I commonly recommend. ↓
