Hi, I’m Carla, Certified Master Nutrition Therapy Practitioner

My journey into holistic nutrition began long before any formal training or certification. It started in the rich soil of upstate New York, on the farm where I was raised. It was there that I gained the lived experience of understanding the true source of natural foods, sharing in the efforts to produce the crops and raise the animals that would sustain us. It was where I witnessed the birth of animals, the blooming of flowers, and the profound beauty of the natural world. This upbringing instilled in me a deep-seated belief that our health is intrinsically linked to the rhythms of nature and the nourishment we receive from the earth.

This deep connection to the earth’s wisdom took on a new and urgent significance during a period of profound personal loss. While I was working as an Enrichment Program Director in a Waldorf School, a career I loved, my family was struck by immense tragedy. Within a few short months, I lost both my father and my sister to cancer. This devastating experience became the driving force behind a pivotal career shift. As I was simultaneously stepping into the new role of motherhood, I was filled with a quiet but unshakeable certainty: I needed to understand how to prevent this outcome for myself and for the new life I was bringing into the world. My path forward was no longer just a passion; it was a necessity.

This foundation in holistic living guided me through my own journey into motherhood. As a wife and mother to two boys, I experienced firsthand the unique challenges and joys that come with nurturing a family. I learned that just as the systems of our bodies work in harmony, the wellness of one family member impacts the entire unit. My passion for serving families is rooted in this understanding: that to give our best to our loved ones, we must first feel our best ourselves. It's my mission to provide women with the support and guidance they need to thrive, whether they are thinking about becoming a mother, knee-deep in diapers, or navigating the transformative years of perimenopause.

Today, I bring together my life's passions and my professional expertise as a Board-Certified Holistic Nutritionist, Master Nutrition Therapy Practitioner, and Postpartum Doula. At Rebel Roots Nutrition, I combine the wisdom of my farm-to-table roots with science-based functional testing to create personalized, data-driven wellness plans for women and their families. My approach is not about masking symptoms; it's about getting to the root cause of complex health issues, from gut and hormone imbalances to infertility and perimenopausal challenges. I am here to empower you with the tools and resources you need to reclaim your energy, feel vibrant in your body, and show up fully for yourself and the people you love.

Rebel Roots Nutrition has blown my mind with the depth and extreme usefulness of information! I have been working with the owner of Rebel Roots Nutrition, Carla, for close to 3 years now and she has helped me in countless ways with not only kids and women’s nutrition, but also with sports performance nutrition! I am an athletic trainer and the athletes I get to train in sports performance are directly impacted by her guidance she’s given to me throughout the years.

I have always felt pulled toward a holistic approach to life.

Just as the systems of our bodies work together in harmony and do not function in isolation, when one family member is unwell or unhappy, this impacts the entire family unit.

There’s so much more to true wellness than masking symptoms. There’s so much more to nourishing a healthy pregnancy than taking that little prenatal vitamin!

And the wellness of your family starts with YOU. It starts with the wellness and nourishment of you, Mom!  When the caretaker is well-informed and able to nourish herself, this cascades to their families, as early as embryonic development to the habits learned by growing children.

I was working as the Enrichment Program Director in a Waldorf School.

The school’s unique, holistic approach to education inspired a lot of my own framework. Education rooted in more than the typical schooling curriculum — centered around educating the mind and heart. I watched students grow and thrive through experiential learning, harnessing creativity, and developing deep moral values.

While in the midst of my career at the Waldorf school, immense tragedy struck my family.

After losing my father and sister to cancer in the same year, I was ready for a career change.

I embarked on a new path in holistic nutrition at the Nutrition Therapy Institute.

Although I initially intended to pursue an education in Nutritional Oncology, my intuition led me elsewhere.

At the confluence of my extensive experience and training in Early Childhood Development and as a Postpartum Doula, I shifted my focus to women’s nutrition, centered on mamas.
